#5. You’ve determined that you can afford the MBA degree now, both financially and personally.
The decision to step out of the job force for two years while paying tuition at a top-tier MBA program—or to balance work and family life while pursuing the degree part-time—should not be made lightly. Whether or not you continue to work, tuition alone is steep. You should either be prepared for significant debt or have done extensive research on scholarship or employer sponsorship opportunities—or both.
Similarly, if you have a partner or family, the decision of when to attend business school should take them into account. If you are considering relocation for a full-time program, what job opportunities will there be for your partner or spouse? Will you be able to balance the demands of a rigorous academic program with family obligations?
The Bottom Line:
Business school is a big decision that warrants careful consideration and significant preparation.
The good news is that if the items on this list ring true for you, chances are you’re ready to make the leap and apply!
